The Nordic Reference Group on Methods in Medical Mycology - bylaws and organisation |
|
|
The Nordic Reference Group on Methods in Medical Mycology has representatives from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. It is organised by the Nordic Society of Medical Mycology but the representatives are appointed by respective national society of clinical microbiology or a corresponding national body. The national societies appoint one or two national representatives to serve on NRMM for two years. Should the NSMM board not be represented on the NRMM it will be invited to name one representative to NRMM. Every second year (2004, 2006, 2008 etc) the national societies are prompted by their respective representatives to either select new representatives or re-appoint serving representatives. A society can appoint the same representative for an unlimited number of 2-year periods. The chairman and secretary of NRMM are selected from the NRMM members by the NRMM members. Both are appointed for two years but can be re-appointed for another two-year period without consultation with the NSMM board. Should the NRMM wish to re-appoint a chairman and/or a secretary for a third or more two-year periods this can be done only after consultation with the NSMM board. Each appointing society will cover the costs involved (mostly travelling costs) for its member or two members. NRMM will normally hold two one-day committee meetings per year, one of which should ideally be held in conjunction with the NSMM yearly congress (the day before or the day after). The meeting place should at the discretion of the NRMM members tour at least three of the Nordic countries. The NRMM will harmonise methods used for species identification and antifungal susceptibility testing in Nordic clinical mycology. It will also address antifungal resistance development in the Nordic countries. When appropriate the NRMM will organise external quality assessments in the Nordic countries; this shall not be in competition with other national or international programmes. The NRMM will liaise and work closely with its European counterpart, the EUCAST AFST committee. NRMM should define suitable diagnostic levels for differently sized clinical laboratories.
