It is a great pleasure to invite you to the 17th Annual Meeting of the
Scandinavian Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy which will be held October 12-14, 2000
at the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel Bergen in Bergen, Norway.
The SSAC Annual Meeting gives a unique opportunity for scientists and clinicians from the
Nordic countries to discuss diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases. We hope that
you will find the programme interesting and are confident that the scientific level of the
meeting will be of the same high standard as the previous ones.
We will do our best to organize an interesting meeting and look forward to seeing you in
Bergen.

MEETING VENUE
The meeting venue is Radisson SAS Royal Hotel Bergen at Bryggen in Bergen, a 5-10 minutes walk from the Fishmarket and the centre of the city.DATE

The registration fee will be NOK 2000 for SSAC members and NOK 2500 for non-members when registered before September 1. After September 1 the fees will be NOK 2500 for members and NOK 3000 for non-members. There will be a reduced registration fee for young scientists who submit posters, for the principal author of the poster NOK 1500. The conference fee includes coffee, lunch on Friday and Saturday, a sightseeing tour, a concert at Edvard Grieg's home Troldhaugen and a reception on Thursday, and banquet at Friday night. Registration form.POSTER SESSION AND AWARD
Delegates are invited to forward abstracts for poster presentation at the meeting (see enclosed abstract form). All topics on antimicrobial chemotherapy, infectious diseases, medical microbiology and immunology are welcomed for inclusion in the programme. The poster area is next to the conference hall. The deadline for submission of abstracts is August 15. The principal authors of the two best posters will receive the Bristol-Myers Squibb poster award.INVITATION TO YOUNG SCIENTISTS
Young scientists (below the age of 40) are invited to submit papers for a 10 minutes oral presentation at the meeting (tick box on Abstract form). The topics should relate to antimicrobial chemotherapy, infectious diseases, medical microbiology, and immunology. The abstracts should be forwarded to the scientific secretariat before August 15. One paper from each of the five Nordic countries will be selected by the board of the SSAC for oral presentation. The presenting author will receive reimbursement covering registration fee, hotel accommodation, and the cheapest airfare.EXHIBITION
During the meeting a commercial exhibition will be organized next to the conference hall. Information about the exhibition is available through the Meeting Secretariat.ACCOMODATION
Rooms have been reserved at the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel Bergen and the Rainbow Hotel Orion (next to the conference hotel).MEALS AND SOCIAL EVENTS
Coffee and lunch will be served at the conference hotel.Thursday evening a sightseeing tour and piano concert will be given at Edvard Grieg's home Troldhaugen, followed by a reception (buffet-dinner) at Schjøtstuene (characteristic houses from the Hanseatic period) by the city of Bergen. The conference banquet will take place on Friday at 20.00 hrs at the conference hotel.
