S.aureus ATCC 43300 is an MRSA with cefoxitin MIC of 8 mg/L and oxacillin MIC of 4 mg/L. It is low-level resistant and therefore suitable for checking that MRSA-detection with cefoxitin works (disks and screen plates). The inhibition zone for the cefoxitin 10 µg disk is 11 - 14 mm for a standard semi-confluent inoculum, 16-20h, at 36 C, on ISA without additives.
